Terms of Use

WeldSymbols is a free technical reference provided as-is. The information here is a starting point for your own judgement, not a substitute for a qualified welding procedure or a manufacturer's data sheet.

By using weldsymbols.org you accept these terms. They were last updated on 19 September 2026.

Use of the site

You may read, print and share the content here for personal, educational and professional reference. You may not republish substantial portions of it as your own work, or scrape it systematically for redistribution. Linking to pages is welcome and needs no permission.

Accuracy

We work to keep the technical information here correct, but no reference site is a substitute for the governing standard. AWS specifications are revised, manufacturers change their published operating ranges, and codes differ between jurisdictions and industries. Figures on this site are typical values and starting points.

Safety notice

Welding involves electric shock, intense ultraviolet and infrared radiation, hot metal, fumes that are hazardous to breathe, compressed gases and fire risk. Nothing on this site is a substitute for proper training, correct personal protective equipment, adequate ventilation, and the safety data sheets for the consumables and base metals you are working with. Some materials — galvanized steel, cadmium-plated parts, chromium-bearing alloys, thoriated tungsten dust — present specific health hazards that require specific controls.

Not a welding procedure specification

Amperage ranges, voltages, gas flows, preheat temperatures and storage limits published here are general guidance. For any work performed to a code or standard — AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, API 1104 or any other — the qualified welding procedure specification governs, and it takes precedence over anything written on this site. Welder qualification, procedure qualification and inspection requirements are outside the scope of a reference website.

Intellectual property

The text, tables, page structure and the original SVG technical drawings on this site are our own work. AWS classification designations, specification numbers and standard weld symbol shapes are factual and conventional information; the standards themselves are published by the American Welding Society, which is not affiliated with this site. Manufacturer names are used descriptively and their trademarks remain the property of their owners.

This site links to and may advertise third-party websites and products. We have no control over their content, terms or privacy practices, and a link is not an endorsement of everything a third party publishes or sells.

Limitation of liability

The content here is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any loss, damage or injury arising from the use of, or reliance on, information published on this site. Decisions about consumable selection, welding parameters, joint design and fitness for service remain the responsibility of the person making them.
